In a statement published two days ago, the USB Ports union announced a new international strike against war and arms trafficking scheduled for February 6.
At least 21 ports across the Mediterranean will take part in the mobilization. The union specifies that February 6 will not be an end point but rather “the starting point of a new season of struggle against war, rearmament, and imperialism, following the mobilizations against arms trafficking and for an end to the genocide in Palestine this past autumn.”
The international strike will be presented during a webinar on January 27 at 6:00 p.m. Italian time, with the participation not only of USB but also of the other organizing groups. Some of the main Mediterranean ports will join the day of action, including Piraeus, Bilbao, Tangier, and Antalya. In Italy, the ports that have so far confirmed their participation are Genoa, Trieste, Livorno, Ancona, Civitavecchia, Ravenna, Salerno, Bari, Crotone, and Palermo, with more ports expected to join.
